Daytime Impaired Driving Arrests

People often wonder why we sometimes do RIDE checks during the daytime hours. The below is exactly why.
9:16am
Officers responded to a 911 call regarding a two vehicle collision at Green Street and Highland Street in the Town of Port Elgin. The suspect vehicle had collided with a pickup truck and attempted to flee the scene before becoming stuck in a nearby snowbank.
Officers arrived on scene and detected several signs of impairment from the suspect driver. He was placed under arrest and brought back to the police station for further testing.
As a result of this collision a 59-year-old of Port Elgin has been charged with Operation while Impaired (80+). His vehicle was impounded and his drivers license has been suspended.
10:48am
Officers responded to a second motor vehicle collision on Sunset Boulevard in the Town of Port Elgin. Police arrived on scene and located a minivan stuck in a snow bank. A male was observed staggering away from the vehicle. He was quickly placed under arrest and transported to the Police Station for further testing.
As a result of this collision a 40-year-old of Port Elgin has been charged with Operation while Impaired (80+). His vehicle was impounded and his license was suspended.
