Board Chair

David MyetteIt is my Honour and Privilege to continue to serve as a member and for 2019/20 as Chair of the Saugeen Shores Police Service Board

Saugeen Shores is the fastest growing community in our region, with many people choosing to make their homes and raise their families’ here every month. The choice to live in Saugeen Shores is made easier knowing that we are also one of the safest, and lowest crime areas in the province. This is in no small part due to the dedicated men and women of the Saugeen Shores Police Service.

We live in an era where the Police must stay ever vigilant of trends in policing and changes in the nature of crime. Be it the Opioid crisis, cyber crimes, human trafficking, road safety or property crime we the Board of directors must ensure that our Police Service stays modern and has the tools and resources it needs to meet these challenges head on.

In the second half of 2019 we will be very excited to see our Police Service move into its new modern facility on Mackenzie Rd. This state of the art building will enable our constables and senior officers to do their jobs to the highest effect and efficiency for decades to come. We encourage you to visit the facility if for no other reason than to say Hello and fill your water bottle. There is also a feature known as an exchange area in the parking lot where exchanges of goods or wards between individuals can be done in a safe and video monitored area.

A police service is only as good as its leadership, we are pleased to have added in the past year, a new Chief, a new Inspector, several new Sergeants and a newly constituted Board. With this leadership in place we enjoy a reputation amongst our peer and neighbouring municipalities for being a proactive, forward thinking, and highly effective Service, that is seen to provide good value to the taxpayers of our community.

The Saugeen Shores Police Service Board meets monthly at the police headquarters, and the meetings are open to the public to observe. Anyone from the community is welcome to attend, and we would be happy to see you there. Meeting dates and times are available on this website.

Thank you for taking interest in Saugeen Shores Police Service and I hope that you find the website interesting and informative.
