Break and Enter and Theft of Motor Vehicle

On January 2nd 2022 at approximately 5:24am Saugeen Shores Police received a call of a Break and Enter in progress at a residence in Southampton, ON.

A male party had attended the address, forced his way into the home and demanded the vehicle keys from the lone resident.

The male party was able to flee the address in the stolen vehicle prior to police arriving on scene.

At 6:24am Cancom Security observed the stolen vehicle traveling South towards the town of Port Elgin, ON.

A Saugeen Shores Officer was able to locate the vehicle shortly after in the 500 block of Bricker Street and observed a male driver known to police exiting the drivers seat.

The officer approached the male in an attempt to make an arrest when he brandished an edged weapon. The officer was able to take physical control of the male with assistance from Cancom Security until more units arrived.

The male was placed under arrest and transported to the Police Station. As a result of this incident a 27 year old male from Bruce County has been charged with

  1. Theft of Motor Vehicle
  2. Break and Enter dwelling house                                                                  
  3. Possession of Weapons Dangerous
  4. Dangerous Operation
  5. Operation while Impaired
  6. Mischief Under $5000
  7. Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  8. Poss of Firearms or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  9. Operation While Prohibited

 

The male was remanded into custody pending a future court date.
