 Stolen Cremated Remains Returned

On December 14th the Saugeen Shores Police Service investigated a break and enter at T.A. Brown Funeral Home in Port Elgin where two sets of cremated remains were stolen.

It was suspected that the responsible person, or persons, were unaware what they had stolen, as the cremated remains were contained in non descript boxes.

On December 22nd the owner of the funeral home located the missing cremated remains safely returned on the business property.

“Hopefully this brings closure to the families already grieving the loss of a loved one.” said Chief of Police Kevin Zettel. “This is especially magnified during the Christmas season.” added the Chief.

The cremated remains were returned anonymously. It is not known if the person who returned the urns was involved in the break and enter on December 14th,

This incident is still under investigation. If you know any information concerning this event, please contact the Saugeen Shores Police Service at 519-832-2500 or report anonymously to Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
