Two Collisions Overnight in Saugeen Shores

Head-on Collision – 24SEP20

On September 24th, 2020 at approx. 8pm, the Saugeen Shores Police Service was dispatched to a two vehicle Head-On Collision on Railway Street in Southampton.  Bruce County Ambulance and Saugeen Shores Fire were also dispatched to assist with the collision.  A vehicle driven by a 30-yr old male was travelling along Railway Street and crossed the roadway striking a vehicle with three occupants travelling in the opposite direction.

The lone occupant of the vehicle that crossed the roadway was injured in the accident, and transported to the Southampton Hospital (Grey-Bruce Health Services).  

The three occupants of the vehicle that was struck, a 43-yr old male, 41-yr old female and a 17-yr old female, also received minor injuries.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

The collision remains under investigation.

Impaired Driver – 25SEP20

On September 25, 2020 at approximately 1:48am, the Saugeen Shores Police Service was dispatched to a report of a single motor vehicle roll-over collision on Goderich Street in Port Elgin.  Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle travelling northbound on Goderich Street at a high rate of speed and heard the vehicle crash.

The Saugeen Shores Police Service, Bruce County Ambulance and Saugeen Shores Fire arrived to find a 19-yr old Bruce County man trapped in a vehicle that had struck a business sign, causing the vehicle to roll a significant distance.

Saugeen Shores Fire conducted a difficult extraction of the male from the badly damaged vehicle and Bruce County Ambulance transported him to the Southampton Hospital for treatment.  The male received minor injuries.

The 19-yr old Male is charged with Impaired Driving – over 80,  and has been released with a future Court Date.

The collision remains under investigation.
