Southampton Man Arrested for Impaired Driving

On October 19th at 1:19am an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle disobey a stop sign in Port Elgin. A traffic stop was initiated at the intersection Green St and Bruce St.
The officer spoke to the driver who displayed signs of consuming alcohol. A road side breath demand was made. The officer administered the test resulting in a Fail for driver.
The driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while impaired. He was transported to the police station for breath tests.
Two tests were completed
- 195 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood
- 198 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood
A 28 year old Southampton man has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Drive motor vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Stop sign – fail to stop
The male’s vehicle was impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence was administratively suspended for 90 days.
The male was held until sober and released with a court date.
