Impaired driver charged

October 30, 2018

Port Elgin – On October 29th, 2018 at 12:30pm an off-duty Saugeen Shores Auxiliary Constable and other witnesses observed a man, who was suspected to be intoxicated, in the LCBO in Port Elgin purchasing alcohol.  Witnesses observed the man to get into a vehicle and drive to the nearby Circle-K convenience store.  On duty officers attended and located the man who was pointed out by the Auxiliary Constable.  A roadside breath test was administered resulting in a fail.  The man was arrested and transported to the station for further tests.

At the station the man failed the Intoxilyzer test.  A 55 year old Kincardine resident has been charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with over 80mgs of Alcohol in his blood.

The Saugeen Shores Police Service would like to remind people that impaired related occurrences happen at any hour of the day.  If you are consuming to excess the night before,  there is a good chance you will still be intoxicated when you wake up in the morning.  The only way to sober up is time, there are no quick remedies.  We all share the same roads, let’s make them as safe as possible.
