On December 5th 2025 at approximately 7:25pm, Police received a call that a vehicle had driven through a wooden road barricade used to control vehicle traffic during the Southampton Christmas Parade. The vehicle proceeded down Victoria Street erratically and almost struck several parked vehicles.

The vehicle was stopped and a heated interaction was had between the driver and officers. The driver was detained at that time and a demand was made for a breath sample which registered a FAIL.

The male was transported to the Saugeen Shores Police Station for further testing. While at the station the male became assaultive kicking one officer in the stomach. He refused to provide further samples of his breath.

As a result of this incident a 19-year-old male of Owen Sound has been charged with the following offences:

-Operation while Impaired

-Failure to comply with Demand

-Dangerous Operation

-Assault Peace Officer

-Mischief - destroy or damage property

-Numerous Highway Traffic Act offences

His drivers license was suspended and his vehicle was impounded.

We want to thank the parade bystanders who contacted and waved down police which allowed for a quick response and arrest.
