Mischief

On April 2, 2009 between midnight and 8:00am, someone smashed out the glass in a door on the north side of the Maple Square Mall located at 515 Goderich Street in Port Elgin.  There is video of the incident.  The suspect is a white male wearing a blue or grey hoodie and light blue or grey pants with black work boots.

Break, Enter and Theft

Saugeen Shores Police are investigating a second break, enter and theft from a storage unit located on MacKenzie Road in Port Elgin.  On April 2nd, the complainant attended his storage unit and found that his lock had been replaced with a smaller lock.  He cut the lock off and discovered that items were missing from the unit. Tools, car tires and a new set of black powder coated aluminum rims were among the items reported stolen.

Fraud

Police and a local business were able to assist the victim of a fraud.  The staff contacted police after they became concerned about suspicious activity.  A customer was sending large amounts of money to Nigeria and Turkey by way of Western Union.  The victim thought he was helping someone get out of Nigeria.  Police have found that many frauds originate from this part of the world.  Western Union confirmed that he was the victim of a fraud and was able to return some of the money.  The public are encouraged to contact Saugeen Shores Police or PhoneBusters to report or obtain assistance on suspected fraudulent activity.  PhoneBusters can be contacted at 1-888-495-8501 or on the web at www.phonebusters.com.
