March 6, 2017

Police responded to a complaint from a taxi service that reported that they transported a fare from Owen Sound to Port Elgin and then did not receive payment.   Police were able to arrange for a family member to cover the expense in order to avoid fraud charges.

Police investigated a complaint and arrested a male for domestic mischief and uttering threats.  The male, age 36, from Saugeen Shores was held in custody for a show cause hearing.

In a separate incident, police arrested a male, age 19, from Saugeen Shores for domestic mischief.  He was charged and released from custody on a Promise to Appear.

March 7, 2017

R.I.D.E. checks were conducted between 7pm and 10pm.  No violations.

March 8, 2017

Police investigated a report of the theft of a dump trailer from a business in Port Elgin.  After investigation it was determined that the trailer had been borrowed by a friend and had not been stolen.

March 10, 2017

At 10:00am, police were dispatched to a theft from a business in Port Elgin.  A description of the persons and vehicle involved were provided by the complainant. Police subsequently located the suspects at a residence in Port Elgin.  The stolen property was recovered and a female, age 36, from Listowel was arrested.  She was charged by police and then turned over to West Grey Police Service as they held a warrant for her arrest.

At 7:30pm, police attended a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Goderich Street and Barnes Avenue.  A driver was charged with Change Lane Not in Safety contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

During the evening due to stormy winter weather, police responded to numerous calls to assist motorists in ditches on area roads.

March 11, 2017

Police stopped a vehicle that drove around the closed road barricade at Highway 21 and Concession 10.  The driver was found to have been drinking and then failed a roadside screening test.  Subsequent breath tests were over the legal limit.  The male, age 22, from Saugeen Shores has been charged with Driving with more than 80 mgs, contrary to the Criminal Code.

March 12, 2017

R.I.D.E. checks were conducted from 7pm to 9pm. One Highway Traffic Act charge was laid but there were no alcohol or drug infractions.
