Impaired Driving, Assault Police and Utter Threats

On January 22nd at 4:56pm police received a report from a citizen concerning a suspected impaired driver who was in the ditch on Cemetery Road.

Officers arrived on scene and observed a male driver still seated in the vehicle. With police on scene the male attempted drive his truck out of the deep snow while ignoring officer’s demands to stop. Officers were able to speak with the male who was observed to be clearly intoxicated by alcohol and convinced him to stop trying to flee.

The male eventually exited the vehicle under his own power.  Officers placed the male under arrest. He immediately began to resist and threatened bodily harm against one of the officers.  During the arrest the male kicked the same officer causing a minor injury.

After he was secured in a police vehicle the male threatened to kill another officer.

The male provided two samples of breath to a qualified Intoxilyzer technician. The results of these samples were:

  • 160 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood
  • 150 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

A 36 year old Saugeen Shores man has been charged with:

  1. Operation While Impaired - alcohol 
  2. Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest
  3. Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm
  4. Uttering Threats to Cause Death

His car was impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. He was released with a court date.

Impaired Driving

On January 21st at 8:04pm an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle make a dangerous maneuver on Goderich Street almost causing a collision.

The officer stopped the vehicle and made observations that the driver was impaired by an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the station.

While at the station the driver provided two breath samples to a qualified Intoxilyzer technician.  The results of these samples were:

  • 300 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood
  • 290 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

A 49 Year old Saugeen Shores woman has been charged with:

  1. Operation While Impaired - alcohol
  2. Operation While Impaired - blood alcohol concentration over 80
  3. Improper Right Turn  HTA

Her car was impounded for seven days and her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. She was released with a court date.
