Man With a Knife Confronts Officers
Media Release – Officers Confronted by a Man With a Knife
On April 3rd, 2020 4:51pm officers were called to a residence in Saugeen Shores concerning unknown trouble.
An officer arrived on scene and exited his vehicle. The officer was confronted by an adult male exiting the residence brandishing a knife. The male advanced on the officer. The officer unholstered their firearm in an attempt to arrest the male. The male kept advancing on the officer who had to move backwards to create distance.
Soon after, another officer arrived on scene to assist. This officer positioned his vehicle between the male and the first officer to create a barrier.
The first officer deployed his Taser striking the male. As a result the male dropped the knife and officers were able to take him safely into custody.
The male was not injured as a result, but was transported to the hospital to be seen by a physician.
A 33 year old man of no fixed address has been charged with:
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Fail to comply with a probation order
