On October 4th at approximately 6:30pm police were called to the area of River St and Wellington St in Port Elgin concerning a minor motor vehicle collision.
Officers arrived on scene and determined that the at fault driver had struck a parked vehicle. An officer had a conversation with the driver who was observed to display signs of alcohol consumption. A roadside demand for breath samples was made. A roadside breath test was administered resulting in a fail.
The male was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the station for a proper analysis to be made.
At the station the male provided two breath samples of 265 and 274 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
A 39 year old Port Elgin man has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration
- Careless Driving
- Novice Driver blood alcohol concentration above zero
He was released with a court date.
