Port Elgin Man Arrested for Impaired Driving
Media Release – Impaired Driving
On Thursday, May 30th at approximately 7pm a citizen reported to police that a vehicle was driving on Goderich Street with a blown out tire that was shredded to the rim.
Officers attended the area of Ivings Drive and located the vehicle parked at an apartment complex. A male was found passed out still seated behind the wheel of the damaged vehicle. Officers observed open liquor in the centre console of the vehicle.
Upon speaking to the male officers determined that he was intoxicated by alcohol and placed under arrest.
The male was transported to the police station where he provided two breath samples in excess of three times the legal limit.
A 64 year old Port Elgin man has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – Blood alcohol concentration
His licence was administratively suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
He was released with a promise to appear in court.
