Dangerous Drugs Seized

Recent Health Canada analysis reports confirm the dangers of drugs seized by Saugeen Shores Police.

On February 20th 2019, and February 28th 2019 Saugeen Shores Police were involved in separate drug related investigations.  In both cases, drugs were seized, and numerous charges initiated against a 35 year old woman and 58 year old man.

As part of the continuing investigation, the seized drugs were sent to Health Canada for analysis.  This week, reports were returned to Saugeen Shores Police confirming that the Purple Fentanyl seized by police tested positive for: Heroin, Fentanyl, Carfentanil, and Methamphetamine.

Carfentanil is a synthetic opioid analgesic fentanyl and is one of the most potent opioids known.  It is 10 thousand times more toxic than morphine, and 100 times more toxic than fentanyl.

If you or someone you know is using opioids, make sure to carry naloxone with you.  Naloxone is used to temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.  It is available without prescription and can be picked up at most pharmacies or the Health Unit.
