Multiple Arrest in downtown core of Port Elgin
MEDIA RELEASE – Multiple Arrests
On April 16, 2019, Criminal Investigations & Drugs Unit and Uniform Patrol officers of the Saugeen Shores Police Service were conducting an investigation in the down town area of Port Elgin. As a result of this investigation, 4 wanted people were arrested and now face several criminal charges:
36 year old male:
Fail to Comply with Officer In Charge Undertaking
19 year old male:
Fail to Comply with Officer in Charge Undertaking
36 year old female:
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Crystal Meth
Resist Peace Officer
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
Fail to comply with Recognizance
29 year old male:
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Crystal Meth
Possession of Break-In Instruments
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2
The 36 year old female and 29 year old male were located walking together in the downtown area of Port Elgin and both were known to be wanted for various offences. Officers of the Saugeen Shores approached them and the male was taken into custody. When officers went to arrest the female, she attempted to pull away from the officer and was swinging her arms. A struggle involving 2 uniform officers ensued and an off-duty officer had to assist to restrain the female and take her into custody. No injuries to the female or officers were reported.
The male and female were found to be in possession of small quantity of crystal methamphetamine and drug use paraphernalia, multiple items believed to have been stolen, a quantity of “break-in tools”, gloves, and a mask (disguise).
All 4 arrested persons have been charged. 3 persons were released with future court dates. The 29 year old Bruce County male remains in custody pending a future court date.
