Two Impaired Driving Arrests
Media Release – Impaired Driving Incidents
Incident #1
On Sunday, March 17th at 1:30am an officer was on patrol in Port Elgin when a pick-up truck was observed being operated erratically on Goderich Street. The truck was observed to cross marked lanes several times.
The truck was stopped in the laneway of a nearby residence. The male driver was observed to be intoxicated by an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested for Operation While Impaired and transported to the police station for a breath test.
While at the station the male failed to provide a suitable breath sample.
A 38 year old Port Elgin man has been charged with:
- Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
- Failure or Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample CC 320.15(1)
He was released with a court date, driver’s licence administratively suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
Incident #2
On Sunday, March 17th at 11:40pm a pick-up truck was noticed by a patrol officer to be driving on Bruce County Road 25 with no headlights on.
Upon stopping the vehicle the officer noticed the driver displayed signs of alcohol consumption. A roadside breath test took place resulting in a fail. The driver was placed under arrest for Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration.
The driver was transported to the station to provide breath samples. He provided two samples both resulting in readings of nearly 2Xs the legal limit.
A 26 year old Hamilton man has been charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Blood alcohol concentration CC 320.15(1)(b)
He was released with a court date, driver’s licence administratively suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
