Impaired Driver Never Had a Licence
Media Release – Impaired Driving
On February, 20th, 2019 at 3:48am an officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner on the side streets in Port Elgin. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Hilker Street and Green Street.
The officer spoke to the male driver and detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage. A demand was given for the driver to complete a road side breath test. The test was completed resulting in a fail. The driver was arrested for Operation of a vehicle while impaired over 80mgs.
The male was transported to the police station for further breath tests. While at the station he completed two tests resulting in a fail.
An investigation revealed that the male has never been licenced and was prohibited from driving for failing to pay fines and remedial violations.
A 26 year old Bruce County man has been charged with:
- Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired – Over 80mgs
- Driving While Under Suspension – Highway Traffic Act
The male was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date.
