Impaired Driver Arrested

Media Release – Impaired Driving

On Friday, February 15th, 2019 at 1:00 am the Saugeen Shores Police Service received a call concerning a vehicle that had driven into a snow bank on Turner Street in Southampton.

A witness observed a male in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. This male exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers quickly arrived in the area and located the male at a nearby residence.  The male displayed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired.

The male was transported to the station where he provided breath samples in excess of three times the legal limit of 80mgs of alcohol in 100 millitres of blood.

A 45 year old Southampton man has been charged with:

  1. Operation while impaired  - alcohol
  2. Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mgs

In addition to the charges, the male’s vehicle has been impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence has been administratively suspended for 90 days.
