Numerous drug charges following shoplifting incident in Port Elgin
On the 31st of January 2019 Saugeen Shores Police were dispatched to the liquor store in Port Elgin for a report of 2 females suspected of shoplifting from the store. Police attended, however the suspects left in a vehicle prior to police arrival.
Shortly afterward, police observed the suspect vehicle travelling on Highway 21 in Saugeen Shores and followed the vehicle to a retail business in Southampton. Police recognized one of the passengers as the suspect from the earlier theft. Police placed the female under arrest, and observed a quantity of drugs in the vehicle.
The four occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest. A male passenger in the vehicle fought with police and fled the area on foot. After a short foot pursuit, he was apprehended by police. A female passenger attempted to evade police by going into the retail store and changing her clothing to alter her appearance. She was also located and arrested.

Possession of a Scheduled 1 Controlled Substance (cocaine)
Possession of a Scheduled 1 Controlled Substance (fentanyl)

Possession of a Schedule III Controlled substance (Psilocybin - mushrooms)
Possession of a Schedule III Controlled substance (LSD – acid)
Possession of Schedule I for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)

His charges were processed and he was turned over to OPP on unrelated warrants and held in custody for a bail hearing.
