Flight from Police / Dangerous Drive / Warrants
On December 11 at 1pm an officer was driving on Miramichi Bay Road when a male wanted on a warrant of arrest was observed driving a vehicle. The officer followed the vehicle and requested other officers for assistance, as this male is currently on charges for Flight from police in a motor vehicle and attempting to disarm an officer stemming from an incident on December 4th.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Stevens St. Once blocked in by two police cruisers, the driver accelerated his vehicle and drove off the roadway and fled from police. As the driver was fleeing police, the vehicle almost contacted two other cruisers and at one time entered a ditch and continued on dangerously into the business section of Port Elgin.
Officers located the driver as he exited his vehicle and entered a local office in the downtown area of Port Elgin. Officers attempted to arrest the driver who resisted their efforts, but was eventually taken into custody.
A 46 year old Southampton man has been charged with:
- Flight While Pursued By Police
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Resisting Arrest
- Fail to Comply Conditions of an Undertaking
The male has been held for a bail hearing.
