Drug Arrest in Port Elgin
On Sunday, December 9th at approximately 3:50am officers on general patrol were investigating an unrelated incident when they came into contact with a male at a convenience store in Port Elgin.
During an investigation the male fled on foot from officers. After a short foot pursuit the male was captured and placed under arrest.
A search of the male revealed a large quantity of drugs and Canadian currency. Included in the seized drugs is a substance suspected of being purple fentanyl. This ‘purple fentanyl’ is suspected to be the cause of several overdoses in Bruce and Grey Counties.
A 42 year old Kitchener man has been charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Hydromorphone
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Heroin
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine (Crack)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Crystal Methamphetamine
- Resisting Arrest
The male has been remanded into custody pending a bail hearing in Walkerton
