Media Release – Fall Seat Belt Awareness Campaign

The Saugeen Shores Police Service will be paying special attention to motorists and vehicle passenger that neglect to wear seatbelts.

So far this year 34 motorists, who failed to properly wear seat belt restraints,  have been killed province wide.  Most motorists buckle up, however the ones who do not account for almost half of the fatalities on Ontario roads. Buckling up should be every motorists first order of business when getting into their vehicle.  As a vehicle operator it is your responsibility to ensure that all passengers under the age of 16 are properly buckled up. Violators could face up to $240 fine and two demerit points. 

The campaign last until October 12th, however road safety is priority for the Saugeen Shores Police Service throughout the year.
