Stolen Vehicle and Domestic Incident

Media Release Date: September, 13, 2018

On September 12th, 2018 members of the Saugeen Shores Police investigated domestic incident at a local hotel.  A female reported to police that her estranged husband had stolen her vehicle from the parking lot.  When he attempted to leave the lot, it is alleged that the male reversed into the female, but caused no injuries.  The male then fled the area at a high rate of speed and eventually lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway causing damage to the lawn of a local business.  The male then fled the area in the vehicle, which was later located nearby with punctured tires.

Later in the day police received another call to attend the hotel as the male had returned.  To evade police the male stole another vehicle and left the area.  Officers located the second stolen vehicle at an address in Arran-Elderslie.  The suspect was located nearby and arrested

A 46 year old male of no fixed address is charged with:

•             Theft under $5000
•             Theft over $5000
•             Assault with a weapon
•             Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
•             Mischief causing damage to property x 2
•             Breach of Probation x 2

The male has been held for a bail hearing on September 13th.
