Press Release

10 August 2009

Saugeen Shores Police conducted a seatbelt check at random locations throughout Saugeen Shores and issued 18 seatbelt warnings. It is still amazing to police how many drivers donít buckle up. Sometimes we warn and sometimes you get a ticket for $110. Buckle up for your own safety.

6 August 2009, at 12:24 pm police attended to the Gobles Grove area to a report of a passenger van towing 3 people on roller blades. This is something police should not have to tell you is dangerous. The resulting injuries or death that could occur from this act could haunt you for the rest of your life. The careless driving charge, the insurance and the guilt should be enough to tell you this is against the law.

7 August 2009, at 3:44 am police responded to a complaint of a drunk male passed out in a cab that fell asleep before being able to pay his tab at Tim Hortonís. A 22 year old Southampton male was arrested for public intoxication and spent the night in jail.

09 August 2009, at 11:20 am police are investigating a vehicle entry and theft of some camera equipment.

People are reminded of our Lock it or Lose it campaign. Please lock your bicycles and your vehicles and your homes. People take advantage of an easy target. If some people are car hopping through the neighbourhood to get spare change they can do 50, 60 cars fast. If yours is locked they will go to the neighbours. Also donít leave valuables in plain sight in your vehicle. While it is rare that people smash a window to get into your vehicle, if it appears worth it they may.

10 August 2009, at 2:06 am police responded to a break and enter and theft at the Phoenix Lounge in Southampton. A quantity of alcohol was stolen. A short time later a vehicle with some alcohol believed to be stolen from the bar was located in Southampton. Police are currently investigating.
