19 May 2009, a 35 year old Palmerston male was arrested for Impaired Driving.

19 May 2009, an 18 year old male and an 18 year old female both of Port Elgin were arrested and charged with possession of marihuana, the male was further charged with breaching a court disposition from another matter.

22 May 2009, at 5:21 pm police and ambulance responded to a 3 vehicle accident in front of the Shoreline Beacon. The three vehicles were facing north bound, the first vehicle was stopped, the second was slowing behind the stopped vehicle and the third vehicle struck the rear of the slowing vehicle pushing it into the stopped vehicle. One of the drivers needed to be taken to hospital and one of the vehicles was towed from the scene. Police are investigating.

22 May 2009, at 11:10 pm police attended to a bush party in the Beiner Bush. A 17 year old Saugeen Shores male was located in an intoxicated condition and brought to the station where he was picked up by his mother.

23 May 2009, 1:03 am police received reports of a black bear in the Green St and Brook Lane, and Port Elgin beach area. The bear was not located; the Bear Hotline 1-866-514-2327 was called and alerted.

23 May 2009, 5:12 pm police, fire and ambulance attended to a fire at J & S Tackle in Port Elgin. A 50 year old female, owner/employee was working with a flammable liquid when her clothing caught fire. Another employee and two customers assisted in putting the fire out on her clothing and in the store. The victim was taken to hospital and transferred to London Hospital where she is being treated for severe burns. 

23 May 2009, 9:48 pm police responded to a report of a vehicles tires being slashed sometime overnight in the downtown core of Port Elgin. No suspects.

23 May 2009, Wardrop’s Pharmacy held a BBQ downtown Port Elgin to raise funds for an employee to get her head shaved for Cops for Cancer on 30 May 2009. Glenna Rivett, an employee of the store and wife of Saugeen Shores police chief Dan Rivett helped barbecue hamburgers and hotdogs. The event raised over $500. for the fight against cancer. Thanks to those that assisted with the barbecue and thanks to Wardrop’s Pharmacy for putting this event on.
