Robbery

Saugeen Shores Police Service is investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Port Elgin on May7th.

Police officers were dispatched to the Petro Canada gas bar located on Goderich Street after a lone male, holding a handgun entered the business at 10:25pm and confronted the store employee. 

The male stole cash and other items from behind the counter of the store. A metal cash box was also stolen.

Police are looking for a white male, 6’ in height, thin build, blond/brown hair, wearing a grey or blue hoody sweater, dark pants and brown footwear.  He was also wearing yellow rubber gloves.

No one was injured during the incident.

Saugeen Shores Police canine unit and a Scenes of Crime Officer assisted with the investigation.

Follow-up investigation is being completed by the Saugeen Shores Police Criminal Investigations Unit.

Police request that anyone locating a cash box or the above described clothing under suspicious circumstances should avoid touching the items and immediately contact police.

It is possible that persons in the area at the time may have information that would assist police in the investigation.
