6 Jan 09, 11:20 am police checked on a vehicle parked on the Cemetery Rd in Southampton. A 37 year old female from Guelph was arrested for possession of marihuana.

6 Jan 09, 7:30 pm police responded to the Port Elgin beach area to a report of people seeing emergency flares going off. Police responded and investigated several of the calls. After a period of time the flares are believed to have been set from land. OPP and CFB Trenton were both notified.

8 Jan 09, 7:00 am police responded to a complaint of graffiti being sprayed on the rear of the CIBC in Southampton. It is unknown when this graffiti was put there and police have no suspects.

9 Jan 09, 1:25 am police responded to a fight complaint downtown Port Elgin. As a result of this occurrence an 18 year old Georgian Bluffs male was arrested for public intoxication. He was taken to hospital as a result of some injuries received in the altercation. Police are investigating where this 18 year old was drinking.

11 Jan 09, 2:15 am police responded to a call of an unconscious male beside a snowmobile near Bruce Rd #3 and Concession #8. The 33 year old Bruce Township male was arrested for Care and Control of a Snowmobile; he provided readings of 247 and 235 mgms. The snowmobile he was operating had been stolen from Saugeen Shores in January 2008; he faces further charges of possession of stolen property. He was further found to be a suspended driver and was served the appropriate paperwork. He was held for a bail hearing.

In 2008 the Saugeen Shores Police Service did 77 tests on the Intoxilyzer, 69 tests for our members and 8 tests for OPP. 60 of our tests resulted in charges for Impaired/Over 80 or Refuse, 9 persons received 12 hour suspensions.

The highest recorded reading was 356 mgs.

R.I.D.E.

From April to December 31st - RIDE checks results in 2035 vehicles being checked.  185 RIDE grant hours were used to do these stops.

Three (3) roadside screening tests were completed.

Two (2) persons were charged with Criminal Code drinking offences.

Two (2) liquor seizures were made.

Two (2) suspensions under ADLS.
