Stolen Vehicle and Property Crimes – Port Elgin

The Saugeen Shores Police Service is investigating the theft of a vehicle and numerous property crimes which occurred overnight in Port Elgin.

At approximately 2:15am, police were dispatched to a Break and Enter at a residence on Waterloo Street.  A resident had awoken to the sound of someone leaving the house.  The complainant found his front door unlocked and discovered that a wallet had been stolen.  The wallet was found later discarded on a neighbour’s property.  A quantity of cash was stolen from the wallet.  Police were unable to locate anyone in the area.

At 6:12am, police received a report of a stolen vehicle.  A 2011 Nissan Murano, white in colour, licence BKVP135, was taken from the street in front of a residence on Highland Street.  The keys had been left in the vehicle.

Police have received 6 further reports of entries to vehicles. Five of the vehicles were entered and damaged by breaking the passenger side window.  The vehicle entries occurred on Highland Street, Joseph Street and Sandy Acres Road.  Stolen property from the vehicles included cash, loose change and an Ipod.

Saugeen Shores Police would like to remind everyone to not leave any valuables in your vehicle.  Leaving your keys in the vehicle is an invitation for someone to steal it.
