22 December 2008

18 December 2008, 12:48 am Saugeen Shores Police and Fire Services attended to the Port Elgin Tourist Camp to a report of a trailer on fire. A 1987, 30 foot trailer was on fire and was a total loss. A trailer beside this one received some heat damage. Fire officials have listed the cause as undetermined. Several other trailers were broken into over the same time period and appear related.

Investigation of this occurrence led police to two young people 14 and 16 years of age who were responsible for the break and enter and fire at one of the trailers. Police are still investigating and will be consulting with the crown attorney regarding charges. At this time the remaining break and enters to other trailers remains unsolved.

20 Dec 2008, a Port Elgin resident returned to her residence to find an intoxicated person asleep on her couch. A 16 year old Saugeen First Nation male was arrested for public intoxication.

20 Dec 2008, 3:39 am police responded to an incident in Southampton where a person trying to get their vehicle into the laneway struck a gas meter causing it to leak. Saugeen Shores Fire attended and shut off the leak. Union Gas attended to fix the damage.

20 Dec 2008, police conducted RIDE throughout Saugeen Shores. No offences were reported.
