Press Release

19 December 2008

18 December 2008, 12:48 am Saugeen Shores Police and Fire Services attended to the Port Elgin Tourist Camp to a report of a trailer on fire. A 1987, 30 foot trailer was on fire

and was a total loss. A trailer beside this one received some heat damage. Fire officials have listed the cause as undetermined.

Police are also investigating an attempt break in to another trailer at the park and a break and enter at a second trailer. These two incidents appear related and police are investigating to see if the fire is also related.

If anyone has any information in regards to any of these incidents they are asked to call police or Crimestoppers.

Searching for valuables and alcohol have been the reason behind many of the break and enters to the trailers over the years. It is strongly suggested that people remove all of these types of items in the fall when closing the trailer. Once would be thieves see there is nothing to break in to get they will either move on or stop.
