Saugeen Shores Police Service

Press release

Saugeen Shores Police Officers Adam Sachs and Michael Cuillerier presented Social Media Safety lectures to St. Joseph's Catholic Elementary School students on Monday, 30 March 2015.  Students learned about cyberbullying, social media, the dangers of sharing inappropriate photos and what behaviours are appropriate on the internet.

Police often receive calls from area schools to report inappropriate internet use by students.  To help prevent these incidents officers prepared and presented the Social Media Safety lectures to students in grades 4 through 8.  Students were also given a Social Media Contract for Kids to take home to their parents.

Parents are urged to talk to your children about the internet.  Always use safe practices such as keeping the social media devices in common areas of the home.
