Press Release – 8 December 2014 to 14 December 2014

8 Dec 2014, 6:38 pm police received a report of people throwing melons from a second floor window along Goderich St. Police located and cautioned the responsible individuals.

9 Dec 2014, 11:23 am police responded to a report of damage to a car parked behind SDSS. A rear window had been smashed out of a vehicle parked there. No suspects.

6:32 pm police responded to a report that a local pharmacy had received a fraudulent prescription. Staff recognized that an additional drug had been written on the prescription that did not look like the doctors handwriting. Police followed up with the doctor and found that to be the case. A Saugeen Shores male faces charges of Uttering a Forged document.

2:31 am police received a report from town staff that a door was open on a cottage on Lambert Lane. Police attended and found that cottage had been broken into. The owner was contacted but it appears nothing was taken from inside. No suspects.

10 Dec 2014, 10:33 am police received a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle collision at a private drive in Port Elgin. The driver pulled into a parking spot and drove over a stop sign. Not knowing the bumper was caught up on the sign reversed and tore the front bumper off the vehicle.

12:42 pm police on routine patrol observed a vehicle on Market St near Goderich St. The officer believed the vehicle to have been stolen from the OPP area. The vehicle was stopped and the vehicle was found to have been stolen. Marihuana was located in the vehicle and the driver was arrested. A stolen wallet was also located in the vehicle that had been taken from the Allenford area. A 23 year old Hanover male faces possession of stolen property charges.

5:12 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Gustavus and Wellington St. A vehicle north on Wellington stopped for the stop sign at Gustavus St then proceeded before the way was clear and collided with a west bound vehicle. Two occupants received minor injuries. The offending driver was charged with Failing to Yield.

11 Dec 2014, 12:13 pm Saugeen Shores Police followed up on a domestic assault matter for the OPP. The wanted male was to be operating stolen vehicle with a firearm inside and possibly be at an address in Southampton. Police located the vehicle at a Southampton address with a stolen licence plate on the front and a different stolen plate on the rear. Saugeen Shores Police began surveillance on the residence while the OPP acquired a warrant to enter and arrest. While officers were waiting for the OPP Tactical Unit to arrive to execute the warrant the male exited the home and was arrested by Saugeen Shores Police. The 41 year old Southampton man faces assault, possession of stolen property and resist arrest charges.

1:15 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision where a vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the Giant Tiger parking lot and left the scene. The damage to the parked vehicle was under $1000. No suspects.

7:19 am police received a report of a motor vehicle collision that occurred at a Hepner Court parking lot. As this was private property drivers exchanged information.

12 Dec 2014, 9:00 am police attended to a report of a break, enter and theft from A Southampton residence. Sometime overnight someone entered the home and stole a cell phone. No suspects.

2:54 pm police responded to a break and enter complaint that occurred sometime overnight at a residence in Southampton. It appears that someone broke into a shed at the rear of the property and went inside but nothing appears to have been taken.
