Press Release

17 July 2014

On the 14th of July 2014 at 1:37 am an officer of the Saugeen Shores Police Service was on foot patrol conducting the crime prevention program called Lock it or Lose it. He was on foot patrol on Kaake St Port Elgin and observed a group of youth walking in the area and two of the youth walked up the drive of a residence. The officer heard a car door open.

As the officer approached several youth ran from the scene leaving behind a stereo and an open bottle of alcohol. Investigation led to the arrest of four area youth, two 15 year-olds and two 17 year-olds. The youth have been charged with Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Please remember Lock it or Lose it. Please lock your vehicle and donít leave valuables inside, please lock your bicycles. Both of these types of crimes are almost 100 percent preventable by locking things up. Locking your bicycle and locking your vehicle could prevent many crimes of convenience and free up our limited resources to work on other matters.
