Press Release

Cybercrime

Protect yourself against Lottery Scams/Emails.

These scams take on many different forms but they generally are mass emails hoping for even a 1 % return. No one wins lotteries they did not enter. If you have won a lottery legitimate companies do not notify you by email. It should never cost you money to win something. You should delete the email and block them from your email. Never respond to these emails as that indicates to the sender that your email address is valid and it will be sold over and over again to other people with the same intent, to take your money. Never open emails from people you do not know, especially an attachment.

Remember if it seems too good to be true it almost always is.

Dan Rivett

Chief of Police
