27 Feb 2012, 4:19 pm police assisted the fire department at a house fire in Port Elgin. The fire was believed to be electrical in origin.

28 Feb 2012, at 12:22 pm police attended to a coyote sighting near the high school in Port Elgin. People are reminded these are wild animals, they will move on if there is no food source like dog food left out or cats roaming free.

28 Feb 2012, police received a complaint of an email scam called HITMAN. The scheme has a person sent an email saying they have been hired to cause harm to the person and they will not carry out the “hit” if they are sent money. The email goes on to give instructions on how you can wire him money through Western Union. These are scams and do not send money.

29 Feb 2012, at 5:25 am police assisted the fire department at a kitchenette fire at the Colonial Motel in Port Elgin.

29 Feb 2012, police investigated a firearms offence. On the 1st of March 2012, police executed a search warrant on a home in Port Elgin and seized a 9 mm handgun, a 357 magnum handgun, 2 high capacity magazines for a semi automatic firearm, a small quantity of cannabis resin and cocaine. A 28 year old Port Elgin man was charged with various weapons offences and drug charges.

01 March 2012, at 9:26 am police received a report of a woman leaving her purse at Walmart and upon her return the purse was gone. It contained a large amount of money that was going to be used to pay bills. If anyone has information regarding this theft they are asked to call police.

01 March 2012, police conducted a DARE graduation at Northport Elementary School.

02 March 2012, Pc Chris Coles did a presentation on On-Line Safety in conjunction with the YMCA to grade 4 to 8 at Saugeen Central School.      

       

03 March 2012, at 4:23 pm police on routine patrol stopped a vehicle on Bruce County Road #3 for driving in an unsafe manner. Through investigation police dealt with 5 individuals in the vehicle, one 16 and three 17 year olds and a 22 year old and seized a large quantity of marihuana. The 22 year old man Waylon Hill of Arran Township was arrested and charged with possession of marihuana under 30 grams, possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking under 3 kilos. And breaching an OIC undertaking from a previous release. In total 229.6 grams of marihuana was seized from the vehicle.

04 March 2012, at 2:08 am police arrested a 41 year old Port Elgin male for public intoxication. The male was observed trying to pick up French fries he dropped downtown Port Elgin and fell face first into the snow bank. He was arrested for his own safety and held at the station until sober.

04 March 2012, at 2:17 am police attended to the downtown core of Port Elgin to a report of a fight between two people. Police attended and arrested one male who resisted shoving the officer away and ran away. He was caught behind the Shoreline Beacon and arrested and had a small amount of marihuana in his pocket. A 21 year old Owen Sound male was charged with Assault with intent to resist arrest, escape lawful custody and possession of marihuana
