01 May 2011, 8:10 am, police responded to the corner of Green and Bruce St Port Elgin where someone had stolen the stop sign. This occurs on occasion and I feel it should be unnecessary to point out how dangerous this is to remove a safety device at any intersection. Very little thought could go into an irresponsible crime like this.

02 May 2011, at 3:13 pm police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Legault’s Independent where two employees of the store were chasing a shoplifter. Police responded and caught the 37 year old Cape Croker male. The person was suspected of shoplifting the previous day as well. 2 May 2011, officers on patrol through both Southampton and Port Elgin frequently see coyotes in the build up areas. Just after midnight officers observed 2 coyotes one with a cat in his mouth. Letting your cat run loose not only upsets your neighbours but you’re your cat at risk.
