27 April 2011

18 April 2011, at 8:56 am police responded to a motor vehicle collision between a school bus and a vehicle at Green and Bruce St in Port Elgin. None of the student passengers or bus driver received any injuries. The driver the second vehicle a Toyota Matrix was taken to Southampton Hospital by ambulance and released. The bus was southbound on Bruce St at Green St and pulled out to cross Bruce St in front of the Toyota that was travelling on Green St. The Matrix hit the front right corner of the bus then went up on the south east corner of the intersection and hit a hedge. The driver of the bus was charged with Failing to Yield.

18 April 2011, sometime overnight a rear window to a 2005 Volkswagen was smashed out while parked in a laneway in Southampton, no suspects.

18 April 2011, 3 young offenders were arrested for breaching their release conditions and held for a bail hearing. The three youth all of Port Elgin are 15, 15, and 16 years, and cannot be named.

19 April 2011, sometime overnight two large blue barrels were stolen from the Port Elgin harbour where work was being done on the docks.

22 April 2011, at 8:21 am police responded to the corner of Bruce and Elgin St in Port Elgin where a stop sign had been pulled from the ground. It should be readily apparent to anyone that this is such a dangerous act. If you see anyone removing traffic signs tell them how dangerous it is and if they continue report them.

22 April 2011, 3:16 pm police arrested a 33 year old Saugeen Shores male for public intoxication on Green St in Port Elgin. He was released to relatives.

22 April 2011, police responded to a report of a theft from a boat at Aqua Marine in Port Elgin. The theft may have occurred as late as last fall. A CD player and two speakers were stolen from the boat.

23 April 2011, at 12:47 am police conducted RIDE on Goderich St in Port Elgin. No impaired infractions noted, 10 Highway traffic Act warnings were given.

23 April 2011, a 36 year old Port Elgin woman reported being bit by two dogs while walking along the north end of Goderich St. on the 22nd of April. The dog’s rabies shots had expired and the Health Unit has put the dogs under 10-day quarantine.

24 April 2011, at 1:01 am police responded to the Wismer House and arrested a 46 year old Port Elgin male who was consuming alcohol contrary to a release condition he entered into on the 16th of April where he was charged with Assault times 2 and Uttering a death threat.  While being searched he was found to be in possession of 9.5 grams of marihuana and was subsequently charged with possession.

The Saugeen Shores semi annual Bike Auction is being held at the police station 10:00 am, Saturday 7 May 2011. Rain or Shine.
