Press Release 13 April 2011

The public is reminded that if an emergency vehicle is coming up behind you or approaching you are required to slow down and pull safely over to the side of the road. Just after midnight on the 6th of April a citizen reported that he observed a vehicle not pull over for an ambulance that was following for some distance. Just imagine being the ambulance driver trying to get someone to the hospital in an emergency. Better yet imagine being the person being taken to the hospital. Please be mindful of the traffic around you and pull over.

6 April 2011, police investigated an assault that occurred at Saugeen District Secondary School. As a result of the investigation one male was charged with assault. No further details will ne released on this matter due to the age of the individuals involved.

6 April 2011, at 2:40 am a Saugeen Shores resident was caught driving while using a Handheld Communication Device. Once again people are reminded this is against the law. Either turn your phone off so you are not tempted or pull over to the side of the road to use your device.

8 April 2011, police responded to a break and enter to a trailer at the Southampton Trailer Park. Some minor damage was done to the trailer door but no theft was apparent.

9 April 2011, at 12:05 am police on general patrol in the Goderich and Gustavus St area of Port Elgin and observed a male party with a beer. The male person consumed the beverage and smashed the empty beer bottle on the front wall of Ebys. The male was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the police station. While being searched he was found to be in possession of a small baggie of cocaine and was further charged with possession.

9 April 2011, at 10:30 pm officers from the Saugeen Shores Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police conducted RIDE checks at County #13 and Hwy #21, 9 seatbelt and equipment warnings issued, no impaired drivers noted.

9 April 2011, at 1:45 am a 56 year old Amabel Township man was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving.

9 April 11, at 9:42 am in the morning a 30 year old Allenford male was arrested and charged with Impaired driving, he was also charged with speeding, no currently validated licence plate, and fail to have an insurance card.

11 April 2011, at 2:44 pm in the afternoon a 54 year old Saugeen Reserve male was arrested and charged with impaired driving.
