On 5 August 2010, at 2:59 pm Saugeen Shores Police Service conducted a Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrant on a Wellington St address in Port Elgin. A total of 77 marihuana plants were seized ranging from small seedlings to 6 feet high.

Further, officers seized a garbage bag of dried marihuana, other containers of marihuana a small baggie of magic mushrooms (psilocybin), cannabis resin and numerous pieces of equipment for the production of marihuana.

Randy Clayton (54 years) and Peggy MacDougall (47) both of Port Elgin were charged with Production of Marihuana, Possession of Marihuana over 30 grams, Possession of Cannabis Resin Under 1 gram and Possession of Psilocybin (magic mushrooms). Both attended a bail hearing 6 Aug 2010 in Walkerton.

On 5 August 2010 at 11:30 pm officers of the Saugeen Shores Police Service responded to a call near MacDonalds in Port Elgin to reports of a man going through vehicles. A 57 year old Hamilton man was arrested and he was found to be in Possession of a vehicle permit for a 1995 Toyota and other identification belonging to the same man from Hamilton. Further investigation revealed that the Toyota had been reported stolen the night before from Hamilton. This vehicle was located in the parking lot of MacDonalds. Gerald Evans of Hamilton was held for a bail hearing in Walkerton to answer to charges of possession of stolen property.
