29 December 2009

21 Dec 09 at 1242 pm a resident of Southampton reported the rear passenger window being smashed in his vehicle sometime between Fri 18 Dec and 21 Dec. No suspects.

21 Dec 09 at 2:39 pm police attended to a motor vehicle collision with injuries at Green and Waterloo St in Port Elgin. Vehicle #1 was south on Waterloo St and did not stop for the stop sign at Green St. striking Vehicle #2 travelling west on Green St. causing it to spin out and end up on a front lawn 21 meters away from the impact. One of the drivers was transported to hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries. The driver of vehicle #1 was charged with failing to stop at the stop sign.

23 Dec 09 at 3:19 pm a citizen called in a possible impaired driver to police. Police located the vehicle, the driver a 55 year old Sauble Beach man registered a warn on the roadside screening device. His licence was suspended for three days and he was also issued a ticket for an expired validation tag.

24 Dec 09 at 3:24 am police attended to an assault at the Phoenix Lounge in Southampton. A bartender had been struck in the head with a beer bottle and had to receive stitches at the hospital. Police are investigating.

24 Dec 09 5:19 pm police conducted RIDE on County Road #13, no alcohol related incidents were noted.

25 Dec 09 at 1:01 am police responded to a break and enter at a residence in Port Elgin. A 2001 blue Yamaha Raptor ATV was taken. The owner believes the theft occurred 2 days prior. Police are investigating.

25 Dec 09 at 11:13 pm police responded to a 911 hang-up call at a payphone at the Cedar Court Motel in Southampton. Footprints in the snow were observed. Police located a 19 year old Southampton male driving erratically in the area and believed he was responsible for the 911 hang-up but could not prove it.

28 Dec 09 at 10:14 pm police responded to a 911 hang-up call at the payphone at Macs Milk in Southampton. Footprints in the snow led to Macs Milk. No suspects at that time. The footprints had come from the Tim Hortonís area.

28 Dec 09 at 10:41 pm police responded to a 911 hang-up call at a payphone at the old Town Hall in Southampton. No suspects.

28 Dec 09 at 11:06 pm police responded to another 911 hang-up call from the area of Saugeen St. Footprints from the phone led to a vehicle and left the area.

28 Dec 09 at 11:36 pm police responded to the area of High and Albert St regarding another 911 hang-up call. Footprints were followed in the snow but were obscured and lost. The suspect from the 25th of December was observed in the area on foot and ran from police. Officers stopped a vehicle driving around the area and the driver was this same person again, with two others. After investigation a 22 year old Tiverton male was arrested and charged with 4 counts of public mischief and obstruct police, his brother a 19 year old Southampton male was also arrested and charged with the same offences along with assault with intent to resist arrest and breaching probation. The 19 year old was held for a bail hearing in Walkerton on the 29th of December. The third male was released without charges.

28 Dec 09 at 5:17 pm police responded to Pizza Delight in Port Elgin to a work related injury accident of one of the employees. A 24 year old male employee had his hand crushed while cleaning a pizza dough stretching machine. The victim was treated at Saugeen Hospital. Police and Ministry of Labour are investigating.
