 Press Release

18 November 2009

Saugeen Shores Police want residents to be aware of a money scheme that has recently hit our area.  Senior citizens in our local area have been targets of the unknown suspects.  A male calls the victim(s) claiming to be their grandson.  The suspect states that they are in Montreal, in jail and in a lot of trouble.  The suspect then requests that they send money to help bail them out.  After the first phone call ends, an associate of the suspect calls the senior stating to be the grandsonís lawyer.  The lawyer requests the senior to send cash only to Montreal by way of a Money Gram through the post office.  Police have received at least ten reports of similar phone calls over the past day and a half.  Police are requesting residents to be cautious of any similar phone calls and to report it to police immediately if one is received.

Chief of Police
