Press Release

28 September 2009

On the 25th of August at 10:04 pm police responded to Thompson Lane in Southampton to a person firing a pellet gun. A neighbour went out to investigate and was hit by a pellet in the chin. This pellet lodged into an area in his neck and had to be removed surgically. Investigation revealed that two people were sitting on a porch drinking and one of the two was shooting a pellet gun at lights in the neighbourhood. The two were not cooperative with police and it cannot be proven which one was using the pellet gun. Neither was aware their actions had hurt anyone although this is careless use of a firearm, regardless of their intentions. After consultation with the Crown Attorney it was determined that with the evidence known no charges could be supported at this time. Should further information come to light this matter will be reassessed, and charges laid if possible.
